How the map is built
A country or an animal tags a story when its headline or summary names it, or when the body names it at least twice. The rule is the same for every story and every language, and it reads the English text of the story.
A program applies this rule, not an editor, so a tag can be wrong: a country named in a story is not always where the animals are. The original report, linked on every story, is the reference.
